Main Functions:

Prostate Palpation

• * Normal prostate: Simulate chestnut size, with a horizontal diameter of 4cm, a vertical diameter of 3cm, and a anterior posterior diameter of 2cm. There is a longitudinal shallow groove in the middle behind the prostate gland, known as the prostatic sulcus.
• * Benign prostatic hyperplasia: Grade I benign prostatic hyperplasia, enlargement of the prostate gland, simulating the size of an egg, with a flat back of the prostate gland and a shallower middle sulcus.
• * Benign prostatic hyperplasia: Grade II benign prostatic hyperplasia, , moderately enlarged prostate, simulating the size of a duck egg, with disappearance of the middle sulcus of the prostate.
• * Benign prostatic hyperplasia: Grade III benign prostatic hyperplasia, severe enlargement of the prostate, regular surface, hard texture, simulating the size of a goose egg, and the bottom of the prostate cannot be touched.

Rectal Palpation

• * Normal rectum.
• * Rectal polyp: A nodular mass with a hard texture can be palpable on the surface of theposterior wall of the rectum.
• * Early stage of rectal cancer: Nodular masses can be palpable on the surface of the posterior wall of the rectum, with uneven surfaces. The texture is hard and it is in the late stage of development of rectal cancer.
